You don't have to worry about whether the URL is available or not: Pin for GitHub automatically looks at your starred and unstarred repositories, as well as the repositories that are pinned to your own, and puts them all in the list. If the URL is available, you will get a notification. Otherwise, you will be redirected to the repo's main page, where you can manually add it to your list of saved links. You can also re-pin the same URL as many times as you like.
